In April 2024, USCIS announced a new rule increasing the automatic extension of the expiration date printed on the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) of certain applicants.
To these applicants, the expiration date would be extended by up to 540 days while their application is pending.
This rule applies to those who, among other requirements, filed their Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) to renew their EAD before the expiration date printed on the EAD.
